Getting Started Quick Guide

We have spent a lot of time documenting GMAT and preparing tutorials and training material. GMAT's User Guide is available in pdf, Windows help, and HTML formats from the Documentation page which also provides an overview of the User Guide so you can quickly find what you need.

If you are new to GMAT, we recommend you take the following training. This material provides a complete overview and training course to get started using GMAT on real-world applications.

  1. Read the entire section called "Using GMAT" in the User Guide.  This section explains how to install and configure the system, and gives an overview of GMAT's user interfaces.

  2. Run the sample missions and scripts distributed with GMAT.   These scripts are located in the "samples" folder of the GMAT installation and contain comprehensive examples on how to use GMAT to solve real-world problems.

  3. Take all of the tutorials in the "Tutorials" section of the User Guide.   These tutorials show you how to perform common activities and solve complex problems by walking you through step-by-step.

  4. Skim the "Reference Guide" section of the User Guide.   This section has detailed information on all aspects of the GMAT user interfaces including detailed behavior discussions, script syntax, GMAT data types, GUI layouts, default values, units, copy-and-paste script snippets, and much more.

Finally, training videos are available on YouTube and Google+ .
