  1. Read the entire section called "Using GMAT" in the User Guide.  This section explains how to install and configure the system, and gives an overview of GMAT's user interfaces. 

  2. Run the sample missions and scripts distributed with GMAT.   These missions scripts are located in the "samples" folder of the GMAT installation and show how to solve many trajectory problems with GMAT.   For further help, see the User Guidecontain comprehensive examples on how to use GMAT to solve real-world problems.

  3. Take all of the tutorials in the "Tutorials" section of the User Guide.   These tutorials show you how to perform common activities and solve complex problems by walking you through step-by-step.

  4. Skim the "Reference Guide" section of the User Guide.   This section has detailed information on all aspects of the GMAT user interfaces including detailed behavior discussions, script syntax, GMAT data types, GUI layouts, default values, units, copy-and-paste script snippets, and much more.
